The Beckman aluminium type 19 fixed angle rotor holds tubes at a fixed angle of 25°. During centrifugation, the densest particles in the solution will separate towards the angle of the centripetal force.
Major applications: Differential centrifugation of large volumes of viruses and large subcellular particles. As a result of not having any moving parts, fixed-angle rotors have lower metal stress that the other type of centrifugal rotors. Fixed angle rotors have shorter centrifugation time and higher possible g-forces.
