Christ Lime Scale Protection

Hard water, water with high lime content, increases the energy consumption because of the lime scale on heating elements in washing machines and water heaters. Ugly lime tracks stay behind on tiles and terminals. Lime scale also lead to rough surfaces in pipes. Considered from hygienically point of view, this is undesirable because this will pave the way to bacteriological problems. A classic solution for lime disposal is ion exchange. The hardness generating ions, magnesium and calcium, will be exchanged against sodium ions. After saturation the resin is regenerated by means of brine. The required rinse water will be drained to the sewer.
